Black 88 POW/MIA N/A FTW!!!!!!!Budget Build!

Postby NicelowZ on Tue Mar 09, 2010 10:00 pm

SO, i was going to part out the 88NA that I picked up from Gary. Well, i haven't had enough request for parts so I decided to play with it. I started with cleaning the interior up a bit and then decided to use wax cleaner on the car and see what happened. Well, here is what happened......

So, I bought a complete 87 NA 2+2 with a real nice front end that will just need paint. So, I will put the front end on this one, throw my 88 NA seats in it, and throw my near mint black interior in it. :)

I was laying in bed the other night and just imagined have a black 88, slammed, with the rims that were on the 86 turbo on it, with the insides painted black and keeping the chrome lip, with a TBO front lip. ANd prolly a welded diff or a J30 diff. Just seems sexy. And I should be able to do it all for under $1000.00. :)

Then maybe a turbo swap later down the road.

We will see how this goes. Who knows. It doesn't help that I have the TT to work with also. This one is going to be on the back burner for sometime. I will still be selling the AE. Figured better this one than that.

trans crunches into 2nd, and maybe 3rd, cant remember now.

also have plenty of good stuff that can go for not much, dash, clusters, random parts....86 NA....

Are you thinking of modding coilovers to fit? I know megans are getting a lot better for the price, but on zilvia you can pick up s13 and s14 coilovers for so cheap nowadays used. Just have to make sure they're rebuildable just in case.

I would like too, but....for now, budget build will prolly just see riced out cut springs. lol. Not going to do any good performance wise, but will look better.

Cut springs don't seem too bad on non-progressive rate springs. It wasn't too bad on my S12, even with a welded diff.

More pics! I am going to have to pull the fenders if I keep the 88 control arms. If I can get a set of 84-86 control arms, I will prolly just end up having to roll the lip then. What do you all think? Yea, the spring is removed for reference sake. :) Oh, and I took a few pics of the parts car too.....

Well, what do you all think? And, the engine in the 87 runs great. Just needs a new timing belt and tensioner. It's making some noise. Gettign ready to drop that down in the 88. Later!
